~Decide yer destiny~

Pirate Junk™ is a browser-based, multi-level interactive action/adventure role-playin' game with beautiful graphics, great game play, surprises, battles, gold an' fortunes won an' lost, slaves, an' o' course, pirates. Pirate Junk works completely within yer Internet Explorer browser an' does not require any plug-ins, downloads or add-ons.

Pirate Junk is inspired by the great classic 1980's game, Taipan, created for the Apple II by Art Canfil an' written as freeware for the PalmOS by Matt Bowen. Pirate Junk, however, goes further, takin' the player into an exotic 1860's world filled with variables an' circumstances that require thought, cause an' effect decisions, an' strategic gameplay. While the basic premise salutes Taipan, the game goes far beyond tradin' an' finance.

Ye begin with an inheritance, an' find yerself to be the Cap'n o' yer own tradin' merchant vessel...from there the adventure begins. Ye will need to buy an' sell goods to make money, but, as ye travel, ye will encounter obstacles o' many varieties, on both land an' sea. Yer journey will require endurance, logic, an' sometimes just good luck. Ye will always be makin' choices between growin' yer finances an' social stature, or fallin' into the hands—an' life—o' piracy.

As Cap'n, ye will sail the China Seas an' ultimately decide yer fate. Ye will fight, barter, bargain, buy, sell, survive, fail, an' have an adventure equal to the great classic games we all love. Pirate Junk is proud to continue the tradition.

  • Sail the China seas!

  • Engage in fierce pirate battles!

  • Face giant sea monsters!

  • Survive ragin' storms!

  • Buy an' sell goods to earn great riches!

  • Staff yer ship with mates an' slaves!

  • Buy bigger an' better ships with more cannons!

  • Match yer skills against other players in the High Scores area!

  • Control yer destiny...
will ye become a respected Cap'n or fall into the dark world o' piracy?!

As a player, ye start the game with a Transport ship that is inherited from cousin Alejandro. Ye want to reach port safely, where ye can buy an' sell commodities wisely, growin' yer fortune. With enough skill, luck, an' gold ye will have the opportunity to upgrade yer ship to a fast, sleek Clipper ship, an' with good fortune an' cunnin', ye may get the chance to captain the ultimate ship, a Pirate Junker!

The Pirate Junk Story...how ye ended up bein' the Cap'n o' yer own ship...

The knock on the heavy wooden door was urgent. It seemed as though fate itself be callin'. It turns out, it was ...

The message penned on the yellowin' parchment told o' yer cousin's tragic an' untimely death. Alejandro had been crushed by a stampedin' herd o' sheep, nearly three months past. As the only survivin' relative, ye have inherited an old transport ship with 2,000 gold pieces hidden in the Cap'n's quarters. Ye had no idea that Alejandro had been so blessed--an' now, so are ye!

Ye have decided to close up yer humble home an' leave yer beloved Spain, headed to Hong Kong to claim yer fortune an' glory, an' begin the adventure o' a lifetime. Yer mission is to take possession o' Alejandro's old ship an' set sail on the high seas.

As a Trader, ye will encounter many excitin' people, places an' things. Exotic ports o' call, riches available beyond yer wildest imaginin's ... an' perils too terrible to contemplate.

Always be wary, keep vigilant! There are bloodthirsty pirates an' cutthroat slave traders prowlin' the seas, lookin' for their next attack. Yer adventure, yer very existence, will depend on the decisions an' choices ye make. There will be times where it may seem brave an' bold to engage a menacin' pirate junker an' fight its motley crew, but other times, it may behoove ye to turn an' run! Ye will have opportunities to gain an' lose great fortunes, battle for life, honor, or just for the heck o' it. With cunnin', good sense, good mates, an' the winds o' fortune on yer side, ye just might become ruler o' the China Seas!

Pirate Junk is the best game o' its kind, an' that is in large part due to its players. We enthusiastically welcome—an' encourage—feedback. We read all user suggestions an' comments, an' take the time to respond to all questions. Pirate Junk was developed to be a game player's dream, to be the best online browser game o' its kind. We think we've succeeded. What do ye think? Let us know!

~Pirate Junk ScreenShots~

At each exotic port ye have the chance to buy low an' sell high to increase yer profits. Beautiful silks, tea for shipment to the Americas ... an' o' course, the highest valued cargo o' all, opium. Opium is legal in China, but the British an' French consider it contraband and patrol the seas. Be wary, pirates also monitor the trade routes, an' transportin' high cost goods is very risky!

Plottin' yer course through the perilous sea is done on the interactive map. There are five exotic destinations to call on in the China Sea. It is 1860, an' greedy pirates still prowl the open waters an' smaller waterways. Open sea holds even more perils..keep a vigilant eye out...

There are financial perils, ship damagin' storms, a variety o' sea disasters an' creatures, but ye also have to be prepared for battles at sea! Bloodthirsty pirates lurk just out o' port. An' if ye be a pirate yerself, ye must keep yer good eye peeled for the British Navy, always waitin' to hunt ye down an' end yer glorious career!

Ye may reach a point where ye find ye need to travel faster, hold more cargo, have a larger, stronger crew to defeat bloodthirsty pirates! So, get a better ship! Ye can dock at port an' with enough gold, ye can upgrade from Transport to a sleek, fine Clipper an' eventually own a Pirate Junker an' rule the China Seas!
